Skip is full of non tippers. A lot of customers have had bad couriers which I think has led to a very unprofitable market on Skip in many
respects. Most of the tips would be between 2 to 3 bucks I would say which is not good
in food delivery. In contrast to a waiter who simply walks back and forth
from the kitchen to the customer's table, our work involves the use of a vehicle.
Nothing we do is free. Everything is an expense (kilometres add up
very quickly). Not to mention the risk involved with driving.
Money and good tips in food delivery lie in catering and group orders.
The majority of my business is in business deliveries and high
subtotals. So yes, tips are there to a large extent - but
most are not good or worth it. When you get very good
at this work you begin to really understand the industry.
It is not just about whether most customers tip...
